Membership on the Philadelphia HIV Prevention Community Planning Group (CPG) is open to residents of Philadelphia County. The CPG must have between 20 and 35 members, be reflective of the epidemic and communities at high risk for HIV infection in Philadelphia. The CPG’s goal is to be diverse and representative in terms of age, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender, and have half the members be people living with HIV/AIDS.
The CPG must include representation from the following categories and follow other CDC (Center for Disease Control) guidance:
The Nominations Committee of the CPG reviews applications and makes recommendations to the Mayor’s designee for official appointment. The Mayor’s designee has the official authority to appoint members to the CPG. Applications are reviewed on an as needed basis, typically two to three times a year.
If you require assistance in filling out the application, please contact the Office of HIV Planning. A staff member can assist you either over the phone or in person. You can submit and application online, print a copy, or request one be mailed to you.
All interested parties are encouraged to attend at least one CPG meeting before applying for membership, in order to have some understanding of the role, processes, etc. of the planning group. Office staff and CPG members will also be available to answer questions.
